Since the minds of others cannot be tamed
until one has tamed one’s own,
begin first by taming one’s own mind.

Whatever we have done with our lives makes us what we are when we die. And everything, absolutely everything, counts.
~ Sogyal Rinpoche, The Tibetan Book of Days
Just how the sun shines on to this world without ever discriminating, the compassionate wisdom energy of all of the buddhas pervades everything. No matter where you are, no matter what you do, this energy is always there, it is always with you.
But just as you need to open your eyes to experience the light of the sun, you have to open your mind with unshakable trust, gratitude, and devotion to experience the blessings of the energy of the buddhas. The more that your mind opens, the greater the blessings that will energize your mind and power your practice all of the way to your enlightenment.
~ Chamtrul Rinpoche

Don’t look for it outside yourself.
You are the source of milk. Don’t milk others!
There is a milk fountain inside you.
Don’t walk around with an empty bucket.
You have a channel into the ocean, and yet
You ask for water from a little pool.
Beg for that love expansion. Meditate only
on THAT. The Qur’an says,
And He is with you. ~ Rumi

As I read these words…I felt they were saying look at the gifts/strength/blessings (whatever you would like to call it) within yourself. For me, I look inward for the Buddha nature. The answers of why this or that is always within. May your day be free of suffering and the causes of suffering. ~ Debra
When people genuinely meet the dharma, they realize it directly within themselves. So the Buddha said that he is merely the one who shows the way. In teaching us, he is not accomplishing the way for us. It is not so easy as that. It’s like someone who sells us a plow to till the fields. He isn’t going to do the plowing for us. We have to do that ourselves.
-Ajahn Chah, “Meeting the Dharma Alone”
I really like this quote. We are responsible for ourselves. Which means we are not victims of someone unless we choose to be. ~ Debra
